Q. What is a typical day like in My Possibilities?
A. Each HIPster's day is planned based on the goal of self sufficiency and his/her individual needs and interests. Each HIPster has a plan, which will be the basis for defining goals as well as what activities their day will include. In general a portion of the day will include activities that promote both self help and independence skills, Another core component will focus on developing job related skills through volunteering.
As the program develops, we plan to expand our programs to include a wide variety daily activities that focus on independence, that encourages our adults with special needs develop and grown to their full potential. It is our belief that each day brings new experiences and opportunities for growth, increased independence and collaboration. The Staff and Board works with businesses in North Texas to identify volunteer opportunities for the individuals capable of working in the community. This gives HIPsters the chance to show businesses how capable and reliable they are. Over time, we hope to see some part time or full time jobs awarded to these individuals. My Possibilities will also partner with other non-profit organizations for possible work opportunities in Collin County (CDC, Special Care and Career Services, North Star, etc) to increase our presence in the community, as well as provide more opportunities for our adults with special needs.
Q. How does My Possibilities address behavior issues?
A. My Possibilities understands that the occasional behavior issue may arise with any of our enrolled HIPsters. My Possibilities follows a documented Behavior Management Plan, provided to each family upon admission. Addressing behaviors is unique to each HIPster and their family, as well as individual to the specific behavior incident. A team approach with an emphasis on family involvement is key to addressing any and all behaviors.
Incident reports are written to document behaviors issues. If behavior modification strategies are necessary, the staff will address this by making modifications, contacting the family and/or contacting the service provider. If behavior modification supervision is required to an extent that the HIPster to staff ratio would not be maintained, My Possibilities will expect the family to make arrangements for a behavior modification plan to be put in place, as documented in the Behavior Management Plan.

Q. What security does My Possibilities use?
A. My Possibilities has three types of security screening.
When a visitor arrives at the center, they present a driver’s license or other government-issued photo identification. My Possibilities uses a system to compare information taken from the ID (names, birthday, etc.) to databases of registered sex offenders. Once a driver’s license is scanned and it is determined that the visitor is not a registered sex offender a visitor badge is printed and the person can continue with their visit.
Volunteers who work directly with HIPsters have comprehensive background checks. They receive volunteer status once it is determined that their background check is accepted. If the visitor is transporting HIPsters, the visitor has also had a Department of Public Safety check accepted.
As part of the hiring process, all instructors go through the security actions described above, as well as security checks required by Medicaid Waiver Programs.
