A Message from Liz McHugh, Volunteer Coordinator

The current world wide economic downturn has touched everyone in our community in various ways. Many in our community: friends, neighbors and family are experiencing job losses, mortgage foreclosures, pay reductions and bankruptcy.

As My Possibilities is part of this community we are also affected directly and indirectly.  As a program that provides day habilitation services to adults with cognitive disabilities, we see how difficult it can be for some families to financially support their adults with special needs. In a healthy economy, My Possibilities benefits from generous financial contributions from both individuals and corporations. Needless to say, we too are touched by this economic downturn and the challenges it presents.

This economic crisis has given all of us an opportunity to rethink how we are spending both our time and money. While economic hardship can be devastating, both financially and psychologically, it gives us the opportunity to refocus and redefine our life’s path. When job loss happens, it is important to find meaningful work as soon as possible.

While searching for your next paid job opportunity, why not consider donating your skills and time to My Possibilities? At My Possibilities we have many meaningful opportunities which address a wide range of skills and abilities. Some opportunities might be one time while others might be many months in duration. We have needs in the areas of marketing, fundraising, facilities management, journalism and classroom assistance.

While My Possibilities can’t offer paid positions we can offer positive and meaningful opportunities in the interim which will add to your resume. Whether between jobs, retired or having a few extra hours on your hands, please consider donating your time and skills to My Possibilities. You can make a difference in your community and in the lives of adults with special needs.

If you are interested in volunteering your talents and time, please contact us at mailto: volunteer@mptx.org
